Here's what's happening with The Refuge Project:
Current Steps

We had been planning to open the Refuge Project in the building where One by One has their offices and where Camino de Vida (One by One's church) meets. With this set-up the kids would be living in a class room and the host family in another class room next to it, the kitchen is located in the middle of the One by One offices, and the bathroom is less than ideal. This caused some concerns since we want to build a family environment for the kids to promote emotional stability and a sense of security. Due to these concerns as well as some others we started to think about other solutions. We knew that we eventually wanted to rent a house for the children and host family to live in, but we wanted it to be close to our offices so we can maintain our relationships with the kids and family.
There is a house that is right next door to the church that was being rented by a man who was trying to start a restaurant, but we hadn't seen him in a while. We asked the owners of the house about it and they said that the restaurant was no longer running and that the house is available for rent. After looking at the house, we feel that it will be the perfect location to start The Refuge Project, although it needs a lot of work. We will be sharing more about the house and the needs in the upcoming weeks and months. Here are a couple pictures of the house:
