Here's what's happening with The Refuge Project: Thursday, May 27, 2010
The staff of The Refuge Project has been in Nicaragua since January of 2009 working with children and youth throughout Managua. The need for a refuge for these children became more apparent with each hurting child we met. Check out some of their stories. Toward the end of the year we couldn't resist the call to do something to help these innocent children who have no one else fighting for them. That's when the idea for The Refuge Project was born. Since the beginning of 2010 we have been working hard to take the idea of The Refuge Project and turn it into a reality. We've defined our plan, gained official recognition as a non-government agency in Nicaragua, consulted with others in the field, and started spreading the word! Next week we will start preparing our physical location, and continue to work with future staff and volunteers to continue the preparations to take in our first residents.
